Show Notes

By default ExpressionEngine comes with just one theme. If you don't know HTML and CSS this can be a bit limiting.

In Episode 2 we'll see how there are many themes available and how you can use them on your ExpressionEngine site.

Changing the default theme

If you don't know any HTML or CSS then finding and installing a theme is a good option. It allows your site to look distinctive without having the overhead of learning code.

There are a large number of themes available in the template gallery. If you search Google you will find further unofficial themes too.

A bit clunky

I have to say that installing themes is not the easiest thing in the world. If you are installing a fresh install of EE it is relatively straightforward. Download the theme then copy the folder over to the /themes/site_themes/ folder. Go through the installation and select the the theme you uploaded. Fairly simple. If you are trying to apply a theme to an existing install it is a bit of a nightmare.

There is a good article on the Wiki explaining how to do it so I won't duplicate the content here.

Music

Great podcasts!

I’ve not used EE yet, but the 2 podcasts so far have inspired me to have a look.

Thanks and keep it up.

Nice podcast. Great job giving these out for free.

Might I suggest different background music thou? It’s a bit hard to hear you with someone singing in the background. I feel like I’m at a bar shouting over the jukebox.
